OUR CLASSES | OVERVIEW
Classes normally take place in the Performing Arts Area (2nd Floor) of Sudbury Secondary School located on College Street in Sudbury, Ontario. We are excited to announce that we are anticipating the return to regular, in person classes, beginning fall of 2022.
Level 1 Preschool (Ages 2 and 3)
Monday nights Time: 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
This pre-dance classes for those ages 2 and 3 (by December 31, 2022) is offered in a "Parent and Me" format. More independent toddlers may attend on their own. This class focuses on rhythm, counting to music, musical activities and musicality, basic ballet warm ups and feet positions, basic Ukrainian dance technique, gaining confidence in dancing with and without their parent or guardian, and allows dancers to experience their first performance in front of family and friends. Class is 30 minutes in length.
Level 2 Junior (Ages 4 and 5)
Monday nights Time: 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.
Level 2 classes for those ages 4 and 5 (by December 31, 2022) continues work on basic Ukrainian dance technique focusing on more advanced steps and rhythms, counting to music, musical activities, ballet warm ups, and continues to build confidence in our kindergarten dancers. Multiple performance opportunities throughout the year (as permitted).
Level 3 Intermediate (Ages 6 to 8)
Monday nights Time: 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Level 3 classes for those ages 6 to 8 (by December 31, 2022) focuses on more advanced Ukrainian dance technique, combinations, regional variations of Ukrainian dance, more advanced ballet warmups/spins/tricks, and continues to build performance confidence in our more advanced dancers. Multiple performance opportunities throughout the year (as permitted).
Level 4 Senior (Ages 9 to 11)
Monday nights Time: 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Level 4 classes for those ages 9 to 12 (by December 31, 2022) focuses on advanced Ukrainian dance technique, combinations, regional variations of Ukrainian dance, advanced ballet warmups/spins/tricks, and continues to build performance as students prepare to move to our Junior Ensemble. Multiple performance opportunities throughout the year (as permitted).
Junior Ensemble (Ages 12 to 14)
Sunday afternoons Time: 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Our Junior Ensemble dancers practice with our Senior Ensemble and adult dancers on Sunday afternoons. The junior ensemble continues their dance journey focusing on advanced dance technique, ballet workshops, regional variations, etc. These dancers also have the advantage of working with our most senior dancers and have the opportunity to learn senior level dances and perform these dances with our senior dancers. Our ensemble dancers also are invited to perform both locally and provincially with our Senior Ensemble.
Senior Ensemble (Ages 15 and up)
Sunday afternoon Time: 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Our Senior Ensemble continues to focus on technique, regional variations in choreography, costuming, ballet workshops, etc. These dancers are trained to teach the younger groups and have the benefit of receiving training from various professional dancers, of multiple disciplines, throughout the year. Often travelling to perform at various festivals throughout Ontario, our Senior Ensemble also takes every opportunity to perform locally for our very supportive community in the City of Greater Sudbury.
